VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Board of Education is preparing to remove LGCA property from the buildings it occupies.  If you are available to help move books, supplies, and equipment on Friday and Saturday, 8/27 and 8/28, please reply to info@LionsGateK12.org.  We need help moving things from the Mt. Calvary classrooms to the north side of the Mt. Calvary gym.
Times: Friday, 8/27 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, 8/28 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and going until we are done (hopefully it won't take long)

Also, please come to the Mt. Calvary gym the Saturday after Labor Day, 9/11, to take whatever items you would like to keep.  The Board asks you to make a donation in exchange for the items you take.  The donations are needed to help pay the remaining bills outstanding for the school.  There will be lots of memorabilia!

If you know of anyone who has a need for school supplies, books, or equipment please have them contact us by e-mail.

Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Lion’s Gate Christian Academy:

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the closing of Lion’s Gate Christian Academy.

Over the last several months we have worked to make changes to our program that would allow us to continue into the next school year.  We eliminated the K-5 program, asked staff to take a 20% pay cut, and even withheld paychecks.  None of these options seemed reasonable or fair. Understand that this was not done in haste and we anguished over each and every decision, knowing that it impacted people greatly.

We have worked very hard to generate the necessary third source funding that would support us.  During the 2009–2010 school year, the Lord blessed us with gifts approaching $225,000.   However, that was only a portion of what was needed to fund our school.  The forecast for next year looks equally daunting. Our endeavors to secure the necessary funding fell short of our real need.  Without that support, we see no other options and no other means by which to operate with a balanced budget.

At this time, we still need to meet our payroll obligations for the final two pay periods of the summer.  Prayerfully consider helping with a contribution.

We know this news will generate many questions and that there will be a period of grieving.  A stakeholders’ meeting will be held next week to help work through this loss.

The Lion’s Gate Christian Academy Board of Education invites you to call any board member with your questions.

Finally, we want to thank everyone who has given so selflessly this past year. Thank you so much for all the hours you’ve invested in Committee work, other service work, and making things happen on so many fronts.  Without you, our volunteer army, the miracles we witnessed this past year would simply not have happened.  You, the students, parents, teachers, and supporters have made Lion’s Gate Christian Academy.

In His service,

Paul Hinz
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
